Transforming Waste into Creativity and Cleaner Spaces

Trash to Art is an innovative initiative that merges environmental sustainability with artistic expression. By repurposing waste materials collected during city clean-ups, this project turns discarded items into meaningful works of art, breathing new life into Johannesburg’s urban spaces. This initiative not only enhances the city’s aesthetics but also raises awareness about responsible waste management and fosters community participation in beautifying public areas.

In collaboration with Standard Bank, Jozi My Jozi spearheaded a large-scale inner-city clean-up around Phase 1, where collected waste is transformed into inspiring artwork. This effort, funded by Standard Bank, is a major step towards revitalising Johannesburg’s streets while engaging local artists and volunteers.

Additionally, FNB supported the clean-up of the precinct surrounding Bank City, reinforcing a shared commitment to creating a cleaner, safer, and more vibrant city for all. Through Trash to Art, we aim to spark creativity, encourage sustainability, and instil pride in our urban environment.
