Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres play a vital role in providing young children with a strong educational foundation, yet many centres in Johannesburg’s inner city and Soweto struggle with registration and infrastructure challenges. To address this, Jozi My Jozi is collaborating with the Oppenheimer Memorial Trust (OMT) and the Department of Education to identify and assist unregistered ECD centres in these areas.

Our efforts focus on guiding these centres through the registration process, ensuring they meet the necessary requirements to become fully recognised educational institutions. Additionally, we are committed to upgrading infrastructure to meet the Bronze Level standard, a critical milestone that unlocks much-needed government funding. These improvements will not only enhance the learning environment for children but also provide greater sustainability and support for educators.

By strengthening ECD centres in Johannesburg’s inner city and Soweto, we are investing in the future of our children, empowering communities, and creating lasting change in early education.
